Xbitlabs posted a detailed review of the Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI Socket939 mainboard. They like the rich feature set, e.g. dual Gigabit network controllers and implemented 8 SATA channels.
However, Xbitlabs are disappointed with the overclocking results and poor system monitoring, leading to this conclusion:

AnandTech published a comparison of three SATA hard disk drives with different performance benchmarks. The reviewed drives are:
Hitachi 7K500
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9
Western Digital WD4000YR
Although the first two drives feature a 3.0Gb/sec SATA interface, the Western Digital drive with only a 1.5Gb/sec SATA interface surprisingly performed the best.
