Chaintech MK8T890 - Hardwarezone

Hardwarezone has reviewed the Chaintech MK8T890 motherboard based on the VIA K8T890 PCI-Express chipset. This OEM or entry-level board features good stability and a clean layout, system builders will love. Hardwarezone gave the MK8T890 a score of 4 out of 5, writing in the conclusion:

With its small Micro ATX footprint, the MK8T890 will fit into non-obtrusive chassis designs with ease. However, neither Chaintech’s bundle nor the MK8T890’s onboard features is going to wow anyone anytime soon. Although we keep telling ourselves that it befits the board’s low-end nature, its features are the absolute bare necessities any user should expect today.

One great concern about this Chaintech motherboard is the support for Socket 754 only, which is already ruled out by the Socket 939. Furthermore, the upcoming launch of AMD’s Socket AM2 will make things worse. However, you can still purchase some Socket 754 Sempron CPUs, so the MK8T890 can make an ideal motherboard for office workstations.
