MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E Review @ Futurelooks

Futurelooks reviews the MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E graphics card which is MSI’s dual slot edition of the GeForce 7600GT featuring a big but unique cooling solution. Futurelooks gives an overall score of 8.5/10 and writes in the conclusion:

Overall, we found MSI’s NX7600GT to perform admirably well as a true successor to the 6600GT’s reputation. It performs fairly well at a respectable resolution with maximum settings. Still, some may want to lower one or two settings to bring performance up to an even more solid level. At just over $200USD we can’t complain really with the overclocking potential, which brought our unit so close to the level of the 7800GT. The rather large cooling unit may seem daunting at first, but we found the fan to be very quiet, adding virtually no noise to the system.

One issue that we noticed is that the cooling solution nearly blocked the second 16x PCI-E slot on our motherboard. It is a fairly tight fit, but it is still possible to stuff in a second NX7600GT. However, at this point one might want to consider a more powerful single card solution instead as the thought of four slots instantly being taken by only a mid-range GPU is rather peculiar; there would only be room left for a sound card and nothing more.

Really, apart from other 7600GTs with the smaller, reference cooling as set by NVIDIA, MSI’s variant stands out as being readily overclockable out-of-the-box while also being silent.
