PowerColor Radeon HD 3850 Extreme Review @ EliteBastards
EliteBastards review the PowerColor Radeon HD 3850 Extreme graphics card which supports DirectX 10.1 and features 512MB DDR3 video memory, 320 Stream Processors. Here’s a part of the conclusions:
PowerColor’s Radeon HD 3850 Xtreme is a rather unique proposition, leveraging its enhanced specification to position itself between the reference Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 parts. For just $20 more in the US, the addition of a more fulsome 512MB frame buffer and the higher core clock speed makes it, to my mind, an even juicier prospect still - The additional video memory in particular is an important, with more and more modern games simply utilising too much frame buffer space to run happily with just 256MB on-board. While these changes might not be enough to sway you from a GeForce 8800 GT board of some description, thanks almost solely to ATI’s current anti-aliasing performance woes, PowerColor should be commended for putting together a very well thought out offering that does a great job of differentiating itself from the crowd.
